"Aiaaaah!"

That is the sound we repeatedly hear here at the pool. It is followed by a smattering sort of sound. First it sounded like somebody being spanked for a ridiculously long time. We finally figured out what this sound is. There are rice paddies on the other side of a creek need to our hotel backyard (at least that's what they claim). A woman works on these fields. Her job seems to be, among other things I assume, to scare the birds and other animals away. She is the keeper of the field and the protector of its fruit. She is constantly at work. This speaks to me about the vigilance needed to guard the inner fields from things that will steal their fruits.
